I know this was a country pub, but it could definitely have been more welcoming and cleaner. In fairness the young girl in the bar when I arrived was very good, but the lady who served breakfast didnât even wish me a Good Morning as she plonked my instant mug of coffee down. The breakfast was set up on the bar and consisted of a few boxes of cereal, a jug of orange juice, which didnât look too clean, and a jar of jam and marmalade. No yoghurt or fruit. This was followed by a full English which I cannot comment on but I had poached eggs on toast. The whites on one of them wasnât cooked properly. The bed was comfortable enough and the shower worked well. There was âstuffâ at the top of the staircase by the exit door - looked like paint and various bits of DIY materials. Could definitely do with a tidy/clean up. Limited space in the car park and village.
Loved this venue. People were lovely and food delicious. But we stayed in the smallest room which was a twin. I have never stayed in such a small room! No drawers or hanging space, was en suite but very claustrophobic. Will definitely go back but get a bigger room. â„ïž this is a proper pub, like they should be, beams on the ceilings and stone steps. Lovely garden area with lights. You will enjoy.
A beautiful old Dartmoor Inn in a very pretty village location. Terrific range of local ales and ciders and great food. Lovely walk in shower, but needs a corner shelf for toiletries. Paintwork needs touching up in places, but, overall, a wonderful, comgortanle plce to stay.
Great place to stay if youâre needing good proximity to Plymouth and surrounding areas but want the peace and quiet that Dartmoor brings.
Staff accommodated our late check-in due to road traffic accident which we were very grateful for.
Included breakfast is delicious and chef is super friendly.
Rooms are great - comfy beds and powerful shower.
Only downside is that if other rooms have their tvâs on loudly, you can hear it straight through the walls which happened on a couple nights of our stay! Other than that lovely and peaceful.
Bed rooms right above pub and dining area - could hear noises and constant bang sound, not ideal if you are trying to sleep. Beds are not the most comfortable either with creaking sound. Pity that breakfast arenât served before 0800 for those leaving early and are not willling. Not the cleanest, foyer and landing areas.
Very nice, high points food, evening meal was lovely, had vegetarian breakfast, it was hot freshly cooked and very tasty. very comfortable, negative: would have liked a mirror in the bedroom, but was only in the bathroom. No soap in bathroom had to use the tube of body wash, no working bedside lamps, issues with the tv, but was resolved very quickly moving my room. Parkingcan be tricky .
Extremely helpful staff. Very obliging
We have an electric car, there are very few fast charging points in Cornwall, no charging points in this village and very slow 7kw ones in the nearest town. By the time we arrived at the pub we had only 30 miles left, once we found out that the village didnât have any charging points the bar staff were very sweet to offer their parents home charger, but we had to reject as home chargers are slow at around 2kw, the nearest town was Tavistock but they only had 7kw which meant we would have to wait there till 8am. We got enough power there to make it to Plymouth where Sainsburyâs boasts 125kw charging points, actually about 90kw. We called the pub as the charging would not complete till after the pub closes at 11, they said they would wait for us, they did. Much appreciated.
Room was large, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we couldnât have breakfast as we had to leave at 8am
Room was lovely and the beer garden, however there is a lot of mess in communal hallways that could give the place a much nicer feel. The lady serving out breakfast didnât seem very happy either
