We had a nice big suite. Just a shame they let dogs in soon room, our being one of them. A bit of a shock when we walked into the room to find a dog basket and 2 bowls.

Welcomed by friendly Front Desk member. Enjoyed a cocktail at lounge while waiting for room. Check-in was easy and quick, room clean and one we requested. Stay was very nice. Good dinner in restaurant. Would return and recommend. Just across the bridge from Shambles for Christmas shopping, Minster, park, river walk and other sites of interest.

Staff were lovely, baggage storage was easily available. Location was great. Room was fine, but really dark. Terrible for doing hair and makeup. Bed was a bit hard, but had a good sleep. Could hear all sounds loud and quiet in the hallway. No deadbolt on door. Didn't love the layout with the shower open to the room.

Easy check in, staff friendly, room was spacious clean and tidy with everything we needed. Bed was nice and big extra pillows are in wardrobe if you need them. We didn’t have breakfast chose to eat out so I haven’t scored it - location is perfect for York 7 min walk from pretty much everything you need.

The hotel and room were very nice. The reason for the low score is that I needed to book a late checkout due to a business call. It took almost a dozen calls, in advance of my stay, before I finally managed to speak to reception. I explained I need the room until 1.30. When I arrived they had only reserved the room until 12, but that was easily sorted when I checked in. The issue then came when housekeeping attempted to enter the room at 10am (thankfully prior to my meeting), then again at midday (during my meeting) but at least they knocked both time. Annoyingly, at 12.50 a male member of staff then entered my room, without knocking and stated he thought the room was vacant. As a solo female traveller, I find this completely unacceptable and totally avoidable. I should not have to lock the door in fear of staff walking in, when I have clearly stated that the room would be occupied until 1.30. Thankfully my meeting had ended and I was not changing clothes but it still left me feeling unsafe. The hotel really need to improve their communication with housekeeping staff to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Quite simply a very good hotel. Well located for rail station and then the city centre and thereabouts easily accessible on foot. Reception was good, breakfast had a great selection of the usual stuff plus a hot food menu option. Room was well equipped and clean. Went for the club deluxe option which did not disappoint. Happy to recommend.
