Luxury at its best. The hotel lives up to the Grand name. Everything was immaculate, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was a great size. All the little touches made for a perfect stay. Wish we could have stayed longer and will be back

It’s a good property but has hidden costs . The self parking gate is closed around check in time so that you choose valet parking for 35 pounds per day . Umbrellas are priced , breakfast is around 30 pounds per person etc . On an overall impression it’s a good property but has many dark patterns for making more money . Transparency is the key , which was missing

A real treat. Close to everything a tourist would want in York. Luxurious and elegant. Had afternoon tea (a treat). The lounge was nice with live music. The property and staff top notch.

Breakfast is always amazing and lovely lady who seems to work every day shows you to a table . Tea and coffee made to order . The grand is having the spa renovated at present and there’s some disruption . The shower in my room smelt very stale and the room wasn’t ready at 3 pm check in . I love York and I know the Grand will resume normal service for next time .

The hotel is very well located and particularly handy for the train station. The exterior was imposing as was reception but I felt some of the interior was a little tired e.g the chair in the bar I was sitting on had the stuffing hanging out of a hole in the fabric on the arm. Our room on floor 3 was large with separate rooms for bathroom and toilet and a large bedroom. Unfortunately this room only had one very small window so it was quite dark even though it was a gloriously sunny day and some of the furniture was a little bit tired. There was a nice gesture of a birthday card for my wife and a little plate with 4 chocolates in the room on arrival and my wife was offered a complimentary birthday drink in the bar. All the staff we had contact with were very pleasant and friendly. The breakfast this morning was very good and even though very busy the staff member managing table seating was super efficient and friendly as were the table and kitchen staff. Would I choose to stay there again…. I’m not sure.
