Yosemite Valley Lodge possĂšde 245 chambres comprenant un fer / une planche Ă repasser et un ventilateur de plafond. Les salles de bain comprennent un ensemble douche/baignoire et un sĂšche-cheveux.
I liked how close and convenient the lodge is to the park. However bed had hair all over it and lint. Facility is old style but everything was functioning. Staff was okay not rude but not friendly either. For one night it worked.
Beds were comfortable and clean
Mountain and surroundings of course beautiful
Bathroom -bath and floor grouting and vents disgusting!!
Carpets in rooms and dining area disgusting and very little to wipe your shoes on properly
And why are the walls all painted mustard yellow to make everything look worse than it is??!!
The Lodge is well located in the centre of the Yosemite Valley and provide immediate access to the valley and walks in the area. If you need to use the Yosemite Shuttle, it stops at the hotel, but due to the low season we had no issues parking around the valley.
The lodge itself is very basic and old, very dingy even with the lights on and had an odd smell. They are due for a renovation but I guess this keeps their prices low. Once you step outside it does have amazing views of the mountains and Bridalveil Falls. In the summer you could sit outside the room and enjoy the views.
The facilities around the lodge are fine but could definitely be improved. There is the canteen which was not the most inviting place to be. Food mediocre and expensive. There is a bar which had the fire on and everyone there seemed happier. The restaurant was quiet but food better.
Pros
- Being able to stay inside Yosemite Valley
- Beds were comfortable
- Staff was able to provide an extra chair when we requested it (we are a family of 4 and they only had 2 chairs in the room)
- Parking by Permit - we were able to park right in front of our room (visited during late fall 11/16 - 11/19)
- Lower Yosemite Falls is within walkin distance from our stay
- Hot and Cold water works well in showers and sink.
Cons
- Customer Service was really lacking on check-in. No smiles and I felt like the staff was annoyed that I asked questions (this is our first time to Yosemite Valley)
- No room upkeep during our stay. We stayed there for 3 nights and there was no housekeeping what-so-ever. Recommended to check with front desk if it's only on request (we didn't ask). Luckily we were able to throw our trash in the bins outside but it was a 1m walk to the nearest bin. Not a big deal but everytime you need to toss trash after meals it starts to add up.
- Old school thermostat. It was cold during our stay so we didn't need A/C but we found ourselves constantly adjusting/turning the heater on/off to get that right temp balance in the room (the thermostat is just a knob so you have to guess at what temp you're setting it to.. it's just Hi to Low setting). We also turned on the ceiling fan to help balance the temperature. The heater itself also has it's own (hidden) thermostat in addition to a thermostat located on the wall above it.
