We loved the proximity of this property to Bar Harbor, just a short ride when we wanted to head into town. The owner is very easy to contact and was happy to answer any questions that I had. We had a very minor issues with the towels in the home not being completely dry, this was a very easy fix, since there is a washer and dryer on premises. It was no problem for us at all. We were a smaller group than originally planned due to the hurricane in North Carolina and several people contracting COVID. We had several friends of our group (Palmer Station, Antarctica alumni) who live on MDI, so we invited them over for a nice group dinner. The large dining room was perfect to accommodate the ten of us, and there was plenty of room in the kitchen for several of us to work at the same time. The house was spotless when we arrived. It was good for me that one of the bedrooms is on the ground floor as my medical issues make it tough for me to climb stairs.
I would definitely stay at this house again, should we ever have another reunion.
This place has a perfect location for the town and the National Park. It was perfect for our group of 12. The kitchen and fridges were big enough. We didn't have time to enjoy the patio or the garden.
Nice location in relation to Acadia National Park and Downtown. The house was large and accommodated our group well, but musty smell in several bedrooms. The mattresses were not very comfortable and the bathtub was dirty upon arrival. The patio area is nice, but having access to a firepit would add to the outdoor area. With a few more updates this would be a perfect rental.
We loved having a big house for our big family and enjoyed the character of the home. It had everything we needed, and our host was responsive, helpful and kind. Proximity to Bar Harbor and Acadia were incredible. There were some things that need to be fixed, but overall we enjoyed our stay.
The house might be outdated but the location is a 5-star. Place is fit for all ages, our teens enjoyed their time away from their overbearing parents and hanged in the living room or in the upstairs bedroom. There is also a room if you are considering an elderly to bring on your trip. I kept in touch with Ronald, the host, during our whole stay coz I couldnt giving him praises for taking my group in. Definitely coming back to this place, outdaated or not--the important part is that, we made memories here.
Oh, and only a 6 minute drive to town.
Thanks again Ron!!!
This house was right outside of Bar Harbor. Very easy to find and the check in and check out process was great. The house is very big with plenty of room for everyone. It's an old house with that is quite outdated, but functional for a big group. There are no electrical plugs in the upstairs, which was not a big deal for us. There is a great patio and back yard. The only negative our whole group had was the beds. They were terrible. Very old and need to be updated. Every one of us tossed and turned all night because they were so bad. If they spend a little money and updated mattresses, this would have been our favorite stay of our trip.
The house easily accommodated my group of 12 people with plenty of space outside to relax and hang out. The house was about 10 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and the Acadia entrance.
My friends and I stayed here while we spent four days hiking and rock climbing around the national park.
The location was perfect and allowed us quick and easy access to the different areas of MDI. We were not in the house too much but it worked perfectly for what we needed.
This place fit our large group well and we knew going in that the place was outdated, we felt it was adequately represented by their listing. The owners responded quickly and were very helpful with any need we had, they thoroughly wanted us to enjoy our stay. The best part of this stay was the location! It was so conveniently located to all that Bar Harbor and Acadia has to offer. The price could not be beat!
We arrived to find the home closed up and very musty. We immediately encountered cockroaches. Although the host responded they were taking care of it, as of checkout, the problem persisted. Both bathrooms are downstairs, side by side, with open shelving between them. The glaze on the standing tub was worn and it was dirty. We chose to use the bedrooms that were not in the loft, since the loft had old mattresses stacked in it. The stairs were very steep and difficult. Sheets were very thin and there were no mattress pads. Outside was very cluttered and the house is no where near the water as one of the pictures implies. There is a brick pad for a wood stove (the stove is inoperable) right outside one of the bathrooms and everyone stumped their toe at least once. I have used vrbo often and am not a complainer. But this was just too much to let slide. Think twice before renting.
This is an older home, but I knew that when booking. We thought is was fun to stay in this house, because it was unusual--my kids felt like they kept finding new places to explore. There is one bedroom on the main floor and the rest of the beds are up different staircases. We only used one part of the house (no outlets) but we didn't mind charging our phones downstairs. Everything was clean and the well stocked. My kids loved pretending they were kings and queens, because they had some antique looking furniture that seemed really fancy to them. It was a perfect place for us while we hiked and explored Acadia National Park. We didn't have any problems with ants or rodents like I read in other reviews. We would stay here again!
This property is convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The kitchen was nice for our group to cook breakfast together. The house had lots of spaces to visit and plenty of seating both at the tables and in the common areas. Upstairs had no electrical outlets and smelled musty but we were able to work around the lack of electrical outlets and always travel with air freshener so it was okay.
7-night stay w/ good location a few miles from downtown Bar Harbor. The property is large allowing for lots of outdoor play... but there is junk and firewood on the side of the house I would be very concerned for children getting hurt. There are signs that say absolutely no fires so the firewood is really just a nuisance, and I am assuming it adds to the mouse problem in the house. On the day of arrival, I found a large area of mouse droppings and evidence of eating and nesting in the loft area. I ended up cleaning the this up and swept the loft area of dirt and more mice droppings. The loft lighting is very poor relying on small plug in lights and there is a portion that is filled with old spare mattresses.. I was very concerned about what might be living there but decided ignorance is best. The other upstairs area does not have electrical outlets and there is a sign posted saying to charge your phones on main level before retiring.. this created a problem for us due to the need for some medical equipment for 2 people in our party. The kitchen is fairly well equipped, but everything is pretty well worn throughout the house. Some of the sheets were pretty close to thread bare and a couple of pillows stained. The outdoor patio is worn but a large area for gathering. The house is on the main road w/ a lot of traffic noise. There are large ants inside the house, mostly on main level. The owner was aware of the mouse/ant problem and gave us 1 night refund.
