What you can expect

Begin your adventure with a pickup from your accommodation in Longyearbyen. Head to the harbour, meet your guide, and receive a safety briefing. Get dressed in a provided drysuit, boots, and mittens, then set off on an open RIB boat to Barentsburg.

Enjoy a scenic sea voyage across Isfjorden, passing bird cliffs and the old mining settlement of Grumant. Stop at the Esmark Glacier to admire its towering ice front and take photos if conditions allow.

Arrive in Barentsburg around lunchtime and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant. After lunch, explore the settlement with a guided tour. Visit historic sites and cultural landmarks, including the main square with its famous Lenin monument.

Afterwards, head back to the harbour and board the boat for the return journey to Longyearbyen.
