I'll mention what I disliked first. There's rooms that are sealed off to the public. I don't mean rooms designated for staff, but rooms that used to be public, such as the various salons. You can peep through some windows for some of these rooms but it would've been nice to be inside. I can understand why the pool room is closed. But some of these locations are only available to access through a tour or events such as the buffet.
However,
What is available is worth it, just for the experience alone. You get to step in the world of an elegant past. Every server we encountered were top notch. Very hospitable and quick. Beds are comfy. Thermostat works. Hotel pricing is reasonable compared to the others around the area. Never sensed anything paranormal. I recommend the Queen Mary to anyone who's curious about staying.
Since we were boarding the Carnival cruise, it was a perfect location as we walk right to the boat. Our adult daughter was so excited because of the reputation of being the most haunted ship in the world.
We loved the history of the Queen Mary. The exhibits were extremely well done. The room was very spacious and beautifully elegant. The bed was comfy and cooling was the two windows. The bathroom was perfectly adequate.
Myself and family visiting stayed overnight and toured this ocean liner for the first time! We really though it was beautiful and staff at cafes and around the ship were helpful and friendly
First thing, if you are expecting a high class Hotel this has not it. You are paying for a historical experience and what the conditions were a little bit alike then. So you don't have room service everyday, cleaning service. People appear to be shorter then, so those of you who are tall the shower head will hit your belly at the best. However to stay in something historical, majestic, regal, and just playing a piece of History was really cool.
Staying on the Queen Mary was a lifelong dream of mine, ever since my grandparents took me to the Royal Brunch when I was 9. It did not disappoint. It's a beautifully restored historical venue, with the added bonus that it's also a hotel. It's like being allowed to sleep in a museum. Not only that, but the location is fabulous, with a view of the Long Beach skyline and fantastic sea breezes. The art deco bar is gorgeous and the happy hour prices are quite reasonable. We ate at the Promenade Cafe and were quite pleased with our food, especially brunch (just the regular one). There are shops and cool things to see and you don't actually need to do a tour if you are staying there. You basically have access to the whole ship. The staff was kind and accommodating. It was also great to have the family friendly room with a separate bedroom for the kids. Because it's historical, you should expect unique and funky things like no air conditioning and old fashioned plumbing, but that's part of the charm. With the port hole open there was plenty of fresh air and the shower was just fine. I highly recommend staying here if you have any interest in history, ships or art deco design. Fantasic experience!

The ship is very interesting however it’s sad because it’s in need of a deep cleaning and refurbishing. Was very costly with all the extra fees. Expected to pay $211 a night which was bad enough. Ended up paying over $800 for 2 nights. The deluxe room was nice enough but no extras like coffee or refrigerator. Toilet broke on second day. Very inconvenient. The meals were expensive but good. The staff is nice and helpful.
