The Mercure Lyon Centre Beaux Arts hotel is conveniently located between 2 major metro stations with plenty of shopping and restaurant options at all price points. The hotel is clean and the staff is cheerful and helpful.
I had a few issues with this property. The day before I left for Lyon, the hotel contacted me to advise that my room had been involuntarily downgraded to a standard room without my permission despite having prepaid for a premium room which is 100 sq ft larger with more perks. Upon arrival, the front desk confirmed my downgrade and assured me that to compensate for the inconvenience of the downgrade, that my room would have a Nespresso coffee machine robes, slippers, as well as a stocked mini bar provided during our stay. I was also assured that a refund of the difference in the price of the downgrade would be given to Expedia for them to issue back to me.
It has been just over a week and I haven't received nor heard from Expedia refunding the price difference as advised by the hotel. Also upon entering our room, no robes/slippers were there, only 2 small bottles of water in the mini bar and powdered instant coffee with a kettle to warm the water were in our room. We mentioned this to the front desk staff and everything was in our room the next day. They apologized and confirmed the refund of charges for the downgrading of the room. Again, it's been over a week and no advice on the progress of our refund has been received from the hotel nor from Expedia.
