Great location, but the hotel seriously needs a rethink! Recently stayed at Hotel Aston La Scala in Nice, and I have to say It’s been mostly disappointment wrapped in a great location. Let’s start with the basics. We were told we’d receive a room upgrade.. that didn’t happen. The room itself is ok. Clean but with a TV that looks like it was installed during the early days of plasma screens. The bed is two singles awkwardly pushed together and feels about as comfortable as a park bench. Air conditioning? More of a suggestion than a feature. The WiFi is borderline useless, constantly dropping out, making it near impossible to do anything beyond refreshing the weather app (which kindly tells you it’s 35°C outside). You’d think that might warrant a dip in the hotel pool… until you find out it’s only open from 10am to 5pm. Yes, in the middle of summer. Apparently cooling off in the early evening or before breakfast isn’t part of the plan here. The rooftop bar does offer lovely views, but the drink prices are completely unjustified! more “luxury rooftop club” pricing, less “meh hotel bar.” Credit where it’s due: the location is excellent, close to transport, the beach, and the Old Town. But sadly, the hotel doesn’t come close to matching the charm of its surroundings. A stay that promised quite a bit, but delivered just enough to make you question your booking.

Our room with a balcony view was amazing. It was the beginning of my 50th birthday trip and when we arrived the hotel had left a bottle of wine with a birthday greeting, which was so great. I had two issues beyond that 1) our room was not cleaned well at all. By the third day, we had to ask them to clean the floors. They had not been swept or mopped. I also had set out the bag and filled out the slip for items to be laundered. They were not picked up by the cleaning staff, so I brought them to the front desk later that night. They said they would be cleaned by the next evening. When I went down to pick up the items, the girl at the front desk handed the entire bag back to me. It was never sent for service. This was beyond disappointing as this was our first stop and some of my husbands shirts needed to be cleaned. Beyond those two issues, I would 100% stay there again. The service at the rooftop was fantastic and the location couldn't be any better.

Hôtel Aston La Scala – France Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Room (Stayed in Room 517): The view from the room was excellent, and the space was generous. Daily housekeeping did a very good job. However, maintenance was lacking—there was mold in the shower, not enough hangers, and the safe was placed inconveniently close to the floor. The air conditioning was weak, and despite calling maintenance twice, it was never resolved. Breakfast: Outstanding breakfast with a wide variety of options and friendly staff. The only issue was the lack of order around the boiled egg station—some guests did not respect the queue. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend the breakfast. Hotel Location: Perfect location—close to everything, with a tram stop just steps away. Ideal for exploring the city. Hotel Conditions: Unfortunately, maintenance is a serious concern. Many areas of the building feel abandoned. The rooftop pool was very dirty, lobby furniture was damaged, and the overall organization was poor. The hotel has great potential but needs better management and upkeep. Rooftop Bar/Restaurant: While the rooftop view is beautiful, the food was mediocre and took a long time to arrive. Most installations need urgent maintenance. The quality of drinks was also disappointing and needs improvement. Conclusion: Despite the issues, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning. We recommend the hotel for its location and views, but management needs to urgently address the maintenance and organizationa

Great choice. Love the property, location, rooms, and staff. We were greeted by Raphael at the reception upon our arrival and he also was there at the check out. Super courteous, friendly and helpful. I liked our experience a lot. I wish the rooms had shampoo and conditioner - I was surprised the see they didn’t provided even when I asked. Property is not a 4 star. Horrible wifi if on business trip. Property is 3 star and is in need of a remodel. In our room cracked floor tiles in shower and main area. Room Not properly cleaned. Rooms are only receiving a surface clean not a deep clean. Roof top view is great and worth a stop if both elevators are working, expect a 15 minute wait as when we stayed only one lift was in operation. Property is over priced and just did not meet expectation. 3 star at best.

Well appointed hotel with excellent helpful staff and large comfortable room with a view. It’s a large city hotel well placed within easy reach of all the main sights on foot and loads of restaurants and shops. Perhaps a bit soulless and the breakfast was only OK but the four stars are well deserved.

The hotel was in a really good location and we had a gorgeous view from the room. The staff were kind. The rooms seemed clean and buffet breakfast was a convenient perk. The speed of service, however, was longer than expected. It seems like the people on staff needed more staff to help them. It took over an hour to receive 2 toothbrushes and 2 towels to our room because they were so busy helping other guests. Also, there is a waitlist for the single clothing iron on property- so don’t ask to use it when in a hurry.

The hotel is in a great location and overall it was very good. The breakfast was excellent. Our first room was very disappointing for a 4* hotel - one of the bedside tables was missing and we had to use a chair in place of this, then the loo seat fell off the first time we used it, the shower flooded the bedroom making the floor a slip hazard and the view from the window was awful. We raised the issues the next morning and were advised we would be moved rooms and this would be sorted for us when we returned later in the day. It wasn't and the ongoing receptionist had not been updated. The room we were moved to was significantly better and an upgrade but the first room shouldn't have been used - why didn't they repair the bedside table?
