Overall, I have appreciated my stay. I got an upgrade to a bigger room with a view. I found the gym a bit outdated, but it was open 24 hours, and I enjoyed a few workouts during my visit. For the room itself, I particularly liked the walk-in closet and windows. The neighbours were noisy. With ear plugs, I was able to sleep.

Nice property with typical Fairmont historic railway hotel charm. Everything was pretty good except the room HVAC was problematic and not cooling properly. Also, the restaurant service was very slow and forgetful.

Fully respect the hotel is old and iconic but the interior is very tired. Amenities for the nightly rate is basic at best. Food and beverage underwhelming and certainly didn't align with high prices. We had to wait at least an hour or more for food service in Zoe restaurant and in room dining. We were very surprised on how hotel is being managed as this is an Accor property and Fairmont brand. Toronto's Royal York is far superior. Also, long waits for reception & valet services.

Such a pleasure to stay in this historic hotel right in the middle of the city. We had a very comfortable room on the 5th floor, but it showed its age a little . Same for the common areas. Overall an excellent stay thanks in large part to very friendly staff.

Historic hotel and near everything you need. Room was in such bad condition the hotel refunded the valet parking and half my stay. Exterior window frame so broken you couldn’t close the window, bed linens made up with badly stained duvet, pen scribbles on the walls, bathroom was dirty with vent so clogged with dirt it didn’t work…left with a written apology from the hotel. At $500+ a night it should have been much nicer… Staff were lovely and helpful. Zoe’s breakfast was ok. Parking was frustrating - valet was $70 a night If I’d have been in the city more those two days I’d have found a better place. If you go here, get a full suite or don’t bother. The chain hotels at a mid price point as just as good.

Every employee we encountered, whether at the valet, the reception, in the elevator, hallways or restaurant greeted us with a smile, hello and genuine interest. A room checker, completely unprompted, offered us water in the hallway on our way out in the morning. The wait staff in the bar were extremely knowledgeable and took their time explaining the offerings to ensure we ordered the right cocktail for our persona taste. The only drawback was the comfort of the mattress in our room. It may be because our room hadn’t yet been renovated, but it was far too soft and almost felt like a foam mattress. Some floors have recently been renovated, and for a fee, we could have ungraded. Overall, it was a very memorable experience.

Our room at The Fairmont Chateau Laurier was very disappointing. We chose a view of the Parliament Building .... if you sat in the one shabby chair in the corner, close to the window or leaned forward on the windowsill you could see it. The bathroom was so tiny that you had to almost straddle the toilet to use the wash hand basin. We are regular sized humans. The drinking glasses were stored on a shelf, at toilet bowl level, 12.5 inches from the front of the toilet bowl { yes I measured it!}. The unit holding the kettle and coffee maker had both placed at knee level: the side that had been the bar fridge had no shelves and needed a good clean imo. The sound insulation was appalling. We could hear both sides of a business conversation in the room next door { and the gentleman was using a perfectly ordinary level of speech}. On the second morning the cleaners { contract apparently} cleaning around the front door with a power washing or blower were so loud at 6.30 am that we got up and left for home. On the upside, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.

Excellent location. Walkable to main sites and beautiful views. The staff was lovely. No self-parking if you are staying overnight, only valet. The entrance can get a bit crowded when people are checking in and out.
