I was upgraded by the helpful ladies at reception and offered late checkout given that it was a slower period of the year. There was a problem with the safe in my room and someone came to the rescue within minutes! The friendly bar/restaurant staff enhanced my stay on a frigid December night. The lobby was being renovated so it wasn’t in its usual old school elegant state. Given the hotel’s proximity to restaurants and places of interest, I would definitely recommend the Lord Elgin when visiting Ottawa.

Room was a little shabby as some lights didn’t work and bathroom pocket door wouldn’t stay closed. The staff at the restaurant were pleasant, but we had a 45 minute wait for breakfast. They didn’t explain why the delay until when food was served and offered free meal which was very nice. There was some issue with communication between restaurant and servers. We stay at Lord Elgin frequently so hope this was just a one off and service will improve as well as all the repairs and construction will be done soon.

The room was OK but the bathroom had a few issues such as a sink that was not functioning properly - didn’t fill. Also the lobby area was a disaster as it is being refurbished. Cold (staff had to wear winter coats and hats) and temporarily very small. Unpleasant
