Unique experience being able to stay on a chocolate plantation with jungle sounds all around you. We found accommodation in luxury lodges to be amazing although some people may not like lack of aircon.

Romantic couples trip

We had a wonderful holiday at Boucon. Room with terrace is a must if you stay here to get the best views. Staff are really friendly and helpful especially Judy, who went the extra mile by lending me her trainers, and all the bar and restaurant staff who were all happy and chatty and added to the lovely welcoming atmosphere. The only exception was the new head chef who never smiled or acknowledged us. Food is nicely presented and as the reviews state, all dishes are complimented with chocolate and cacao nibs. It would be nice to have more fish and non creole dishes available for dinner for clients staying for longer trips. Although breakfast is the same each day, we asked for some different things including a traditional St Lucian breakfast and pancakes which we gave 24 hours notice for. The shuttle taxi and boat to Sugar Beach was excellent. All in all a lovely holiday!

Great minibreak

Spent a couple of days here on a mini-break. Hotel is lovely. Wonderful room (we stayed in a luxe lodge), great pool and hotel overall. Do the tree to bar chocolate tour, its worth it.

A 'must visit' whilst in St Lucia

A really interesting place, we stayed for three nights whilst in St Lucia and then went onto a beach resort for a week afterwards. I would highly recommend visiting Boucan if you want to do their bean to bar tour and experience their food. We did three nights, two would have been sufficient though. The rooms are beautiful and very thoughtful to put bug spray for your use in there as well as a bottle of fizz on arrival. Outdoor showers are lovely. Beds very comfortable. All extremely clean and well appointed. Restaurant has spectacular views, food is not cheap but is Michelin star quality in my humble opinion. Only thing which we could not fathom was the chocolate pasta which I could not eat. The BBQ was outstanding with a nice touch of local entertainers doing fire eating and limbo - think that is every Tuesday. Pool is nice if a little chilly but again with spectacular views! All the food is outstanding but I would have preferred something a little more relaxed and far lighter at lunchtime by the pool. If you've had breakfast there (fabulous) and are having dinner there later, you don't need a $30 wrap for lunch which is the lightest thing I found and far too much for one who has expended little energy all day on a sun lounger lol. The bean to bar tour is an absolute must do and I raved about it to everyone in the next hotel we stayed at - several went on to do it! It's kind of like a wine tour, but chocolate related and you see everything from the cacao growing in situ, harvesting pods, grafting new trees, then finally making your own chocolate bar grinding the cacao with cocoa butter and sugar which is pretty hard work by hand I will tell you! Now we've done it, I wouldn't feel the need to go back, but if you've never been, I would absolutely recommend a stop over here while you are visiting the island, it's a brilliant experience.
