Sehr viel mehr Schein als Sein
"Dieses Hotel ist hauptsächlich Dekoration. Kommt man an, dann ist man vorerst durchaus in seiner Erwartungshaltung bestätigt. Ein herrlich altmodisches Kolonialstilhotel, mit adrettem und bemühtem Personal. Der gebuchte Flughafenshuttle hat nicht funktioniert, nach längerem Warten hat man das Taxi genommen, keine Tragödie. Das Empfangspersonal ist ob dieses Missgeschicks ganz geknickt. Kein Problem, das kann ja passieren. Das Zimmer ist nett, kitschig opulent, aber das erwartet man ja, wenn man schon einmal in so einem Kasten übernachtet. Das Bad ist geräumig. Oberflächlich passt es.
In der Nacht ändert sich die Meinung drastisch. So schlechte Betten hat man selten in einem Hotel. Die Matratzen sind - so macht es den Eindruck - noch aus der Errichtungsphase des Hotels, 1922. Die Angst aus dem Bett zu fallen, sobald man die Durchhängungskuhle beim Umdrehen verlässt, groß.
Beim Nachmittagsbier auf der Aussenterrasse, beim Frühstück oder bei irgendwelchen Fragen aller Art zeigt sich - der vergessene Flughafenshuttle war kein Versehen. Er war nur ein Beispiel für die fast schon mitleiderregende Inkompetenz des - immer sehr freundlichen - Personals. Sie verstehen kaum Englisch und sind meistens heillos überfordert.
Vielleicht ist der Oldtimer-Citroën vor dem Hotel, der auf jedem Photo abgebildet ist, ein wirklich gutes Beispiel, wie das Hotel ist. Von Weitem schön, aber kommt man näher,sieht man, dass er ohne irgendeine Pflege langsam verottet. Man kann das Hotel nicht empfehlen."
