The cabin was clean and quiet. One of the beds is out in the living area, so minimal privacy. They were adamant about their 4 pm check-in time. The restaurant had a lovely menu posted on the outside, but when you went into the restaurant, about half the items were unavailable. Fortunately we had brought our evening meal. I would advise this for longer stays. We were only there one night, so it did not seem worthwhile to build a fire in the fireplace. They do provide wood and a fire starter.

Unfortunately our cottage(#14) was extremely dirty. The only blanket you get on the bed is a sheet. The one positive of this place is where it is located. The setting is absolutely beautiful. My family was disappointed our cottage was so dirty and run down, because the trails and location at Big Sur are wonderful.

Very accommodating lodge to have a stress free trip to Big Sur. Along with access to all the awesome trails and the river without having to travel far at all. Totally recommend staying here, we’re already planning our next trip :)

Beautiful to be in the redwoods, always. We had a great room with fireplace (a bundle of wood included!). The only thing was we had nothing in the room to light the fire with! Luckily, I caught the bartender closing up just down the road and was able to get some matches. Otherwise, love being at Pfeiffer to commune with the river and trees.(Tried to add photos here, but unfortunately, could not).

Great place for the Glamping feeling!

Beautiful Lodge tucked in Pfeiffer State Park.. really an awesome way to get to stay without doing the whole camping thing. Perfect for a night away in the woods!

We arrived on Monday, June 23 for a 5 night stay. We were given a unit next to an active construction site. Backhoe and Bulldozer and large construction trucks starting at 7:45 AM or so and going all day, every day. Not what I had in mind when paying to stay at the Big Sur Lodge. Also found out the onsite restaurant has about 80% of it's menu unavailable. They did have 2 salads, a burger and a pasta dish - and that's it. Neither of these issues was mentioned when I booked, or anytime prior to arrival. The gas heater in the unit didn't work, and the temporary electric heater would pop a breaker any time we tried to run the electric kettle to heat water. Also the wifi only worked at the Lodge. We bought some T-shirts and when we tried to return one were told store credit only. There was signage anywhere in the store providing notice that refunds were not available - I'm violation of CA civil code 1723. I mentioned this to the staff and the manager and was told this was their national corporate policy, regardless of CA law. Big Sur is beautiful and this site is an amazing asset - but it is being operated very poorly and without concern for the guest experience nor CA law.

Don't recommend

The place is old and worn. They told me my room wasn't going to be cleaned unless I asked. Someone came in and made the bed. I felt that was an invasion of privacy. I hadn't put anything away. The heater was broken. Tried to eat at the restaurant and they said they had no food because they were getting a new menu and only had one pasta dish. We obviously left the restaurant. Don't recommend staying here.

We arrived late for check in so our keys were left taped to our door which was fine. The cabin was clean. The beds and pillows weren't great. What disappointed us the most was the lack of knowledge and help available to find the sights. I was told several times just look for the trail head... or I don't know, you'll have to go back to the lodge... Which we did and there was zero help there either. One important thing to know is the wifi doesn't work there so make sure you download any and all maps of areas you want to see. We never found the trail head to the waterfall and the beach was overcrowded so we didn't get to see it either... Eventually, we just decided to move on to our next destination. We did enjoy the River Inn Restaurant located down the road from Big Sur Lodge.

Great central location in Big Sur

Stayed in a lovely attached cabin with a small balcony out to a redwood forest. The hotel is located right at the entrance of Officer Big Sur State park and includes an entrance pass to local state parks for the length of your stay. There were multiple hiking trails and points of interest on the property.
