The Elleray is pub/hotel itâs a traditional old building with sash windows, a dining area/lounge, bar and an outdoor beer garden. For the age and style of the building it was very clean in the rooms and public areas. The rooms are comfortable with a big telly, tea/coffee etc. The staff were excellent and friendly and helpful, the food was excellent as well and very tasty. They have a variety of drinks available including local guest ales although I didnât try any, only thing Iâd mention is if youâre a Guinness drinker itâs the nitro surge which isnât that nice but thatâs just personal choice. If you are in a vehicle parking is an issue, thereâs no parking on site or in the road next door, you can park on the main road overnight but during the day itâs only for an hour but I managed ok whilst there, you can also park in the rail station car park which you pay for. If youâre travelling by train the station is literally on the same road just a few minutes away, thereâs also an excellent Chinese restaurant next door which was very tasty and popular. Overall Iâd definitely recommend the Elleray, itâs ideal if youâre in a car for exploring and if youâre a walker youâll enjoy the hike up the road from Bowness! But even if you just want a nice little break in a nice area itâs great. The only thing I would point out is the noise from the beer garden, it wasnât from the Elleray but a pub further down, it didnât bother us but if it does you Iâd ask for a room on the front or the side.
