"We stayed at the Sitia Beach Resort & Spa, which is still advertised as a five-star hotel – maybe it was 15 years ago, but not anymore. The entire complex feels outdated and in need of renovation. We had booked a Maisonette room, but it was dark and located directly by the main pool. It was impossible to open the windows for light or fresh air because of the constant noise and lack of privacy. We asked to change rooms and moved to the main building, which was slightly better, but the bathroom was so tiny that there was no space to put any personal items. We had booked with breakfast, but the food was a major disappointment: mostly industrial, frozen products simply warmed up by the kitchen – far from what you’d expect from a hotel in this category. Overall, we left one day earlier than planned, disappointed and relieved to go home. Definitely not worth the five stars or the price."
