We previously stayed at Ocean Coral & Turquesa in Mexico and had a great experience, which is why we booked Ocean Blue & Sand expecting something similar. Unfortunately, the difference was night and day.
We had ongoing room issues, inconsistent housekeeping, and constant problems getting towels despite repeated requests. Instead of fixing the issue, staff would show up late at night asking if we needed towels after the problem had already been raised. Communication barriers made even simple requests frustrating.
We paid for Privilege but did not feel respected. We repeatedly asked to speak with management and were told appointments would be set up, but this never happened. We were brushed off entirely.
The most serious issue involved health and safety. My husband became very sick with a bacterial gastrointestinal infection and required hospitalization for 24 hours. I had to return to the resort alone in the early morning hours using transportation arranged by the resort, with no internet and no shared language with the driver.
Although I was told transportation would be covered, the driver demanded payment, charged me $70 USD, and pressured me to return to my room to get the money. This was the last of our cash. When I returned, the driver was asleep and had to be woken to count the money. The stress and lack of sleep from this experience later triggered epileptic symptoms for me.
