Check in was a nightmare! Called days prior and answered all text communication for the king, lake view room I paid for. Arrived around 1:30pm promptly told we could not check in until 4pm. Came back only to be given a room with another couple in the room. We walked right into their room and they were inside. After demanding the correct room, we were told they were sold out and a limited amount of double beds available no more kings because they gave those to priority tier members. (i am an IHG member) however because booked through Expedia that didn’t apply. Finally after several discussions they found us a king room, lake view. They included a free breakfast (which was really good) and the room was clean, comfortable (once we got the heat working correctly). I was extremely disappointed on our check in experience - also learned that another couple was also given a room that was already occupied. So safety was more of a concern in that hotel. Unacceptable!

Room was great. Bed really comfortable. Amenities were great. The issue i had was the automated system texted me twice in two days confirming when i would arrive. I responded twice and was acknowledged by the system i would be arriving earlier than the posted check in time. Then when i arrived at the time i started i didn't an hour of back and girth with the front desk to get a room when i arrived. It ended up not being ready until the posted check in time. Which is fine, but why even ask me twice and tell me twice that it was okay. If it's a problem, then tell me truthfully and i can adjust accordingly and not take up both your time and my party's time. System and process does not seem capable to address this.

The room was absolutely gorgeous but what really made this trip special was a wonderful and gorgeous and thoughtful stuff especially Charmaine K. She went out of her way to make us feel warm and welcome, and by doing that she secured us as annual customers and guess because this will definitely be your annual getaway for that Christmas Eve feel at this hotel is the best pic in all of Lake Placid with beautiful views, clean rooms and a wonderful staff.
