The room itself was in good condition and well maintained, which we appreciated. However, housekeeping was inconsistent — we practically had to request daily cleaning each time instead of it being routine. Complimentary waters were not provided, which was disappointing for the level of the property. During our stay, both the tram and boat transportation to the hotels were out of service, which made getting around less convenient than expected. There also were not many activities available for kids to participate in, and only one restaurant offered free dining for children under 4. Overall, the stay was okay, but there were several service and amenity gaps that took away from what could have been a much better experience.

What stood out most was the setting and the amenities, especially for families. The property is expansive and gives kids a lot of room to explore and enjoy themselves. The natural lagoon was the highlight of our stay. Being able to snorkel right on property, paddle around comfortably, and even spot sea turtles made it a unique and memorable experience. That feature alone created moments the kids will talk about for a long time. While the rooms felt a bit dated and the service had more of a large resort, chain-style feel rather than a highly personalized experience, the overall space, layout, and lagoon environment balanced that out. The atmosphere works especially well for families who value activities and room to spread out.

Resort was huge and all means of transportation didn’t work so we had to walk miles everyday to get anywhere. The tram was broken down, the boats weren’t working for some reason and the shuttle they had took forever and didn’t drop us near our room. Towels were also dirty and tore up. Waikoloa village is an oasis in the lava fields. The grounds of the Hilton are nice and the campus is massive. The tram to get from one end of the campus to the other was broken 3 out of 5 days. The gondolas that go the same thing more romantically, were completely out of service. That meant long walks. Housekeeping didn’t replenish coffee pods in our room, and then failed to replenish sweeteners on another day. Otherwise, the room was well tended. A panel that covers the plumbing in the bathroom was broken and neatly placed on the floor under the sink. No repairs were attempted during our 5 day stay. Self parking is easy for $48 a day. They do provide a key card, making multiple trips a breeze. We really did enjoy the Hilton. I think they earned maybe 3 1/2 stars out of 5. For the high price, we expected more.

The entire facility felt neglected and stuck in the 1980’s. The previously sought after amenities have fallen into disarray, especially the canal that was left abandoned still filled with stagnant water. There is a tram that is supposed to take you to and from several points on the resort, and it was inactive due to an accident. It would have been helpful knowing this before checking in. The resort was huge, and having to walk 20 min each way just to get to valet was less than ideal. We also had a bug infested room upon check in. There were silverfish and centipedes, and there was old food left behind on the balcony that wasn’t cleaned up before we checked in. BUT THE STAFF WAS LOVELY! Every single person working there deserves better than this resort offers them. They were kind, professional, and hard working.

The resort has everything you could want. We loved the lagoon, pools, restaurants and access to the coast walk. Everything is well taken care of.

The rooms and staff were great! The buildings are getting warn down and the food is very over priced. All restaurants options close very early and there are not to many of them to chose from. Makai tower has good ocean views and easy access to parking. We loved the lagoon with so many fish!
