Beautiful Historic Hotel

The Grand Hotel Amrâth is an incredible historic hotel. It is very centrally located near Central train station. My room on the 3rd floor had high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the canal. Absolutely gorgeous! They have many original museum pieces from when they were a shipping house in the early 1900’s. I truly enjoyed my stay. I would say my only complaint would be that they did not have a ramp to bring luggage up the front stairs. The bellman does help if he is waiting in front but if not, pretty challenging. Have some great videos of my room but unfortunately won’t upload on the site

The hotel was in a great location. All the amenities were fantastic. Beautiful hotel, staff were very professional and friendly. Excellent service throughout our stay. Breakfast selection was great with an option to tailor your order if required. Highly recommend it!

Really loved our stay, the staff were fantastic and the rooms and spa facilities were excellent. The gluten free food options could have been better and I did bring it to the staffs attention about a few things as I am coeliac.

I want to believe this property can do better than it did but I did not receive a 5-star experience by far. My wife and I arrived here only to be put in perhaps the worst hotel room I've ever been in and were treated like trash by the attendant. We complained about the high temperature and were told the property did not have A/C and were to go open our window and set up a floor fan from the closet in our room and report back in 2 hours. We showed this staff the website listing A/C and he told us this should not be and took this info to pass on to management. The temperature continued to rise and when we went to report this, the staff had all left except for night time security which is apparent their model from 11pm to 7am. At this time we were informed the hotel is fully booked and we cannot switch rooms. In the morning we called expedia and they called the hotel and they reported we could switch rooms at 3pm and we were forced to wander the city until that time while exhausted. We returned and were given a proper room and the valet showed us how there is A/C and how it could go down as many as -6C should we choose. We returned to the front desk and were confronted by the same callus desk worker (Temu, or Toma or something... tall, short curly hair, young, ignorant), and he reported he would email the manager and did not. This was our honeymoon and staff choose to disregard this fact despite several mentions. Black mold in the bathroom. No heat control. Callus staff. no help

The building is awe inspiring, our room was large and immensely comfortable - gorgeous bathroom. The Spa is impressive, gowns are provided in the room. The staff are the biggest asset - unbelievably helpful and just lovely.

I had a large, nicely appointed room but the bedding was poor quality. There are many steps up the entrance, with no one outside to assist. Once inside, plenty of help is available to navigate the internal stairs and also when leaving the hotel. It’s close to the station but like many hotels in that area you have to cross many tram tracks with your luggage. Small lobby that can get crowded.

We booked 6 nights and unfortunate as a family emergency come up. We had to leave after the first night. After flying home we attempted to work with management for any type of refund. We wouldn't expect and entire refund. Even half would have helped. But they refused. So we ended up paying for 6 nights. On top of that, the rooms are awkwardly laid out and incredibly humid. We booked a room with a canal view, however it was arranged in a way where we couldn't even enjoy that. The headboard of the bed covered the view. Don't stay here, there are many other great options close by.
