A sweet place with easy access to walking to the coast and lighthouse and just a mile from town.

The hotel was clean with good parking. Unfortunately, the beds terribly outdated and worn, which caused me and my wife to not get a good nights sleep, along with aches and pains. The room nor have air conditioning which caused a couple hot nights sleeping. If the beds are updated, it would have been a great stay.

Just right

Last minute get away, found this place for a reasonable (for the area) rate and booked it. No regrets. Pacific Grove is a lovely, walkable community. The room is a bit dated, but very clean, water pressure good, bed was ok, ample parking on site. Just what we needed, as our main focus was to explore the area. Walked to the lighthouse, John Denver memorial, down around Ocean Dr.,and back up to Lighthouse Ave. to grab a bite.(Red House Cafe!!) Monarch Resort has a friendly, welcoming front desk and just what you need for breakfast to head out on your way for the day. Will book again!! ◡̈

Another review said something about there being a hot tub, heated pool, sauna, and an in room fireplace. Yep and yep. The place reminds me of an “old person’s home” from an 80’s movie. It’s a little dated but the lack of modernity doesn’t make it any less cozy and comfortable. It could use an upgrade with breakfast. While the boiled eggs were hot, there was no cereal. Variety of bagels, yes. Variety of milk, no. Honey for your tea, yes. Decaf or herbal tea, no.

I booked a room with fireplace and there was no fireplace in the room which was disappointing.. I wanted to use the hot tub outside but they were in the process of cleaning it. I wish they would have cleaned it during hours that the area is closed. The hotel is a little outdated but it is quaint. I would have booked a different hotel knowing the hot tub wouldn’t be in service and that i would receive a room without a fireplace which initially had attracted me to this resort.

Unfortunately, we were placed very close to the continental breakfast area so it got pretty loud in the morning. Also, some in the areas in the hallway were not quite vacuumed. If you have dust mite allergies, take allergy meds.

The only downside to the stay was that the hot tub drain was making a loud annoying noise. Hard to relax completely and enjoy the hot tub with the noise.

Loved everything except the beds hurt my back so I didn’t sleep well. But everything was clean and peaceful and the pool hot tub and sauna were awesome. Loved my fireplace in the room and sweet peaceful little balcony. Continental breakfast was better than basic!
