Don't stay there in hot weather.

Pros: Nice restaurant and a high standard of cooking, and nice, clean room.
Cons: Complete overhaul of the rooms at the front of the hotel, to make them quieter and cooler.
Location: Very central location in Chichester, a lovely old town with great connections to the coast and South Downs National Park.
The pub itself is nice and the breakfasts very good - they have an excellent chef. But our room was unbearably hot, with no aircon and no fan and, because right above the front door of the pub, on a main road, the traffic noise was literally booming in our ears unless we closed the windows. I can't believe this is the first hot weather they've ever had, and freestanding fans don't cost much. When we asked to change room the only one available, we were told, was next to a giant (hot) kitchen extractor fan, and our request for a fan was met with a blank stare.

The room is above a bar and unfortunately we stayed there on a Saturday night. Needless to say it was extremely noisy. The room was smelly and could use a proper cleaning. The worst part was that the bed was breaking and the mattress fell through the slatted frame. Then we realized there were heavy cardboards under the mattress trying to keep the mattress up. We paid more than 150 quid for that. I was underwhelmed to say the least!
