Iâm not an independent hotel/B&B guy. I normally stay in one of the franchise hotels. But, I needed a room for 2 nights and it was during the Fringe and the Oasis weekend. This meant all hotel prices were CRAZY (>ÂŁ200 for a night at a Premier Inn - I donât think so!)
The Bayswell had a room with a sea view(beautiful) including breakfast for ÂŁ90 via Expedia.
My room was sufficient. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good.
My room was definitely not the sort of room you would spend any time in, other than to sleep and wash/shower. This wasnât a problem for me, as Iâd booked what was probably one of the smaller/cheaper rooms.
My room was hot, but not enough to stop me sleeping.
Breakfast was nice. The ingredients were all of good quality, with my only negative comments being the one piece of sorry looking bacon and cold beans served the first morning. I went for bacon and egg on toast the second morning and received two lovely slices of bacon.
Was it worth ÂŁ90 ? During the Fringe/OASIS = Yes. But Iâd say the quality of MY room was lower than a typical Premier Inn.
I did find the wifi to be close to useless. Most times failing to connect and when it did it was painfully slow. This was both from my room and in the breakfast area.
All the staff were very friendly.
A good one night stay, with a beautiful see view. Our room was in need of some TLC and a deep clean but the view made up for that. It was a bit expensive for what it was but that could be due to proximity to Edinburgh and the busy Fringe month. The breakfast was lovely and all the hotel staff were very friendly.
The building is old and out dated... but that's exactly what I wanted. It gives the feel of an authentic experience. The scenery is beautiful and the staff was friendly.
The hotel staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble . The sea view was mesmorizing. The breakfast was good, maybe more local bacon would be nice? Very comfortable rooms, may need a bit of tweeking, but overall, absolutely, lovely stay. Near to the train station to get to Edinburgh. Thankyou
Originally booked for 2 however my circumstances changed as my husband had to work and couldnât get my children watched explained on check in, the next morning I was made to feel like a criminal as I had my children in a hot tub suite, that I had paid nearly ÂŁ300 for, the staff were so rude as I broke the rules and allowed my 10 year old, supervised in the hot tub. It was my birthday and I wanted to do something special but this treatment was just awful. The rooms are dirty I am not exaggerating when I say I could write in the dust on my bedside table.I had to go and get tablets as I am allergic to dust and my eyes were swollen when I woke up. I paid nearly ÂŁ300 for a night to stay here, to be treated terribly and sleep in a dirty room. I am very much regretting my decision with this hotel. We had a great time at Foxlake near by. The best thing about this place is the hot tub but there are many rules to follow at this hotel. It is not family friendly. The rooms are not great.
The building was very nice old stonework which was in good condition. The inside was nicely done. The staff were very nice and easy to get on with. Bar staff were very efficient and friendly.
Loved the sea view from the hot tub ground floor junior apartments, hot tubs were great, bathrobes were provided along with large bath towels. Will return.
Two night stay whilst attending Scottish Open golf. Good, clean room with a fantastic sea view. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant and friendly and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Would have no hesitation in staying again.
Room was good. Hotel needs some updating ( carpets, windows, furniture) and walls could use a fresh coat of paint. Some pictures on the walls would have been good too.
Bathroom was updated and the bed was comfortable. Great view over the coast.
Very beautiful Room beautiful view, but there is no dining options after 7 pm in winter walking distance to town itâs about seven minutes but no lights in the roads
Great breakfast, very friendly staff, very clean room. The only 2 things I would say that could improve: there was no flat sheet, and being summer time, the room was warm and too hot to sleep with the duvet, so a flat sheet was needed. The room could use some updating, toilet flush only worked after pressing several times. The window was really old and hard to open and close. Good pillows, good towels. And again, the best staff. Slightly pricey for the room you get.
This hotel is old fashioned in a beautiful building on the edge of the coastline. Get a sea view it is worth it. My solo room was a good size, the breakfast was in a lovely sea view dining room, the staff were extremely lovely and helpful. The bathroom needs updating but was spotlessly clean.
