We were very happy to experience this hotel. It is perfectly located near Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, in walking distance. It is a a very nice, quiet, clean, comfortable modern hotel with an excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner. It even had parking which is hard to find. Very nice as well as conveniently located!

Best location ever

My family loved this hotel. Wow, location , location , location! We had a view of the castle out the window. So close to many places to eat , shop , the castle and royal mile. Even has a fun pool . I’d highly recommend.

Room was freezing first night. No extra blankets so I wore my coat in bed. Next night it was so hot I couldn’t sleep at all. There didn’t seem to be an AC. I opened the window but that just made it super loud. Someone starts banging next to the hotel at 5am every morning so you can’t sleep in. Then the fire doors slam all night. Breakfast is ok but dinner was not good and took forever. But good location. Parking is overpriced. Liked the free water machine. Shower was flooding the bathroom everytime and the second day was only cold water. Room was clean though and they tidied it up nice while we were out. Taxi stand is conveniently located

Biggest problem with hotel is the bathroom. The shower area contains a tube that has about two feet tall sides. So not made for anyone that has any trouble lifting leg two feet in the air. Reported problem with room that did not get fixed during stay. Breakfast buffet need some help.

We had a great stay at the Apex Grassmarket hotel. It was very convenient to the Old Town of Edinburgh. We stayed on the side that was not facing the castle and it was very quiet, which was great. We had booked the castle-facing room but due to my adding an extra night in the other room, we initially were told we were going to have to change rooms. We gave up the nicer room, which took some extra work from the desk staff, which was appreciated. We also asked for access to the rooftop deck for a photo and desk staff kindly escorted us up and waited while we took our photo. My husband used the sauna daily and enjoyed having access to that amenity.

We had the balcony. Beautiful view. Would have been better if our windows were clean. Perfect area. Walkable. If you are traveling with big bags, it is inconvenient to get into the hotel. There are a lot of stairs and no help.

The location is exceptional. We had a great view of Edinburgh Castle from our window, and only a few minutes walk to all the best restaurants and shops on Grassmarket and Royal Mile. Definitely one of the best hotels in Edinburgh. We received a free coffee/tea voucher upon arrival, though it would've been nice to receive two since there were two of us staying in the room. Coffee is usually complimentary at other hotels of this level.
