The house is in a shady, run down part of town.
We were surprised to discover that this lady fosters cats. There were so many cats and the whole house reeks of sick cat and litter box.
When we requested a refund, she refused.
While we were there another guest arrived and left to get a hotel.
Such a disgusting experience.
Cat lovers paradise!
Host rescues cats and we were greeted at every turn by a friendly meow.
Home was modern/cleanâŠ.host was kind and made us a great breakfast.
Would gladly stay again next time we are in the area.
To begin with, there is no 24 hour service as stated. Owner leaves a note on the front door to tell you where your room key is, so anyone could get your room key as the front door is open. It is in a âroughâ neighborhood. The beautiful vintage furniture pictured is covered with sheets and cat beds and cats. I counted 8 cats just on the couches. This is the common are the owner calls a library since it has a small bookcase with books on it. But you canât sit anywhere because itâs covered with cat beds and cats. The dining/kitchen area is disgusting. There is a large kennel that takes up a fourth of the dining area which houses 4 more cats that appeared ill. A smaller kennel housed another cat and 2 liter boxes. The dining area and kitchen area are open concept, so food is prepared and consumed in this area. The smell was overwhelming throughout the house, and needless to say cat hair was everywhere. The cats that arenât kenneled have free access to the house including the shared bathroom. One snuck past me into my room and I had to pick her up to remove her. I called the owner and asked for a refund. The smell was so bad my eyes were watering. She refused. She explained that she ran out of room for her cat rescue in her portion of the house and had to move some to the common areas. I asked her again for a refund and she refused. I left immediately. The room itself appeared to be clean, but it was no city view as described. And smell in room was horrific.
The house was not in a very nice neighborhood and it wasn't clear if it was safe to walk or not, so we drove to a nearby riverwalk when we wanted to take a walk. The host was lovely, but we were very shocked to discover when we walked in that she had 10-12 rescue cats in the house, as they were not on the advertising. There was a cat odor in the house, though not overwhelming. Our rooms were on the 2nd floor and that floor was clean and newly renovated. The bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Some rooms share a bathroom. We were a little underwhelmed with the breakfast in the morning, by bed-and-breakfast standards.
A beautiful property, with good up to date rooms, and lovely host. My big issue was the smell of cat litter. It was pungent, my nose refused to be blind to it. Donât get me wrong, I LOVE animals and love that she rescues cats, but keep you have to stay on top of that. The smell was overwhelming.
We were in town for a track meet and had booked through Travelocity several weeks in advance. We were surprised to discover, upon arrival, that this house contained several animals. Seven cats and 150+ pound dog to be specific. The host was kind, but nowhere before this booking where we alerted to the fact, there would be pets. The fact that I was allergic to cats excludes us from staying at this home, combined with the smell of animal when we walked in. This home was also under construction, in the living space. Therefore, we had to leave and lose all of our money and search for local hotels. Again, the host was kind⊠But the accommodations were very disappointing.
I have only stayed in a bed and breakfast one other time in my life and was worried. April made me feel at ease as soon as I walked in. I am not a breakfast person and April accommodated me accordingly. The room was light and airy with fresh linens. She has a dog and cats and that truly added to the experience. The animals were there as much as I wanted them to be. I would 100% recommend this house and will stay here in the future if whenever I am back in town!
Owner/Host is extremely nice and accommodating. Made a nice breakfast and served it at time of our request. We rented the larger unit which was spacious and well appointed with a large bathroom and two walk-in closets. Location is mixed with some decent housing and some boarded-up homes and businesses. Went on long walk around town and felt safe but we live near Chicago so comfortable in many environments. Must like pets as owner allows her 120 pound gentle German Shepherd, Mo to greet you each time you enter or leave. She has about a dozen cats as well, so may not be ideal for folks with cat allergies. Overall, she does a great job but want folks to know about a few things that greatly surprised us because no one mentioned them to us prior to our arrival.
Wonderfully sized room and bathroom! Good value. Very pleasant proprietor.
Did not like that cat/cats had been in the room, and there was a constant, but mild kitty litter odor. I need protein for breakfast so I missed that being part of the breakfast.
