Grounds are kept immaculate. Good variety of food options. Staff is hit or miss as far as friendliness goes. Pools are beautiful and clean with lots of chair availability. Would definitely go back!

It was my second time in a Barceló and I was not expecting such a terrible experience. The food was awful (I got food poisoning during my stay), drinks are clearly mixed with water and low quality. The restaurants offer a really bad dining experience - in one of the restaurants, I literally took 15 minutes to eat a 3 course dinner, because of the size of each plate. The waiters take a long time to take your orders and many times forget, so you have to remind them (in the 4 restaurants I went, I always asked for a second drink and never got it). Sometimes it looked like they were doing us a favor. The rooms were dirty, with a lot of humidity and smelled like a sewer. Regarding the beach, they had rules written that you could not reserve the beach beds but everyone did it, so by 10 am you could not get one (and the beach was almost empty). The “vigilantes” at the beach saw that and did nothing. Also, the activities scheduled are unreliable. Also, don’t get fooled by the pictures you see on the internet, as these were clearly taken several years ago. If you want to have a vacation on a budget, I’m sure there are better quality options out there.

I love the beach and their pool! The food and drinks were okay and the rooms were very spacious and clean. Could use some upgrade though. The staff were helpful and friendly. Over all we had an amazing time at Occidental Punta Cana and would recommend this place to my friends and family! I would love to come back here!

Bathroom shower ceiling was dripping water and about to collapse. There was no free room service when we got there. When I booked they had offered free room service. Bed was hard, tv was gona fall off the wall, and our ac broke for a night and half a day until it started to work again. The restaurant food was 2 out of 10. Most food came out cold and the ribs were hard a heck. I will not be returning to this resort.

Arrived 12/31/25.NYE. Waited 1.5 hrs in line to check in to hotel!! Horrible! Room was dirty. Hair on bed. Had them reclean room. 1 out of 10 staff members/bartenders spoke English. Most of bartender staff seemed annoyed they had to serve us and very unhappy looking. They seemed to cater more to spanish speaking persons. Food was 2 out of 10. Resort itself seemed clean. Beach was beautiful. 1 and done visit. We will never go back.

The resort was well taken care of , however it is not even close to a five star resort . When you travel to the Dominican Republic one expects Domestic beer not Coors light like we drink back home “ when I inquired about this with royal club guest services, I was told to go into town and purchase my own Presidente light “WOW” this is not how you treat top tear customers. The main buffet food choices were just ok , we only had excellent food once we ate in the royal club restaurant every day . Our room had an infestation of ants. So all this being said I will not stay at this resort again , and any resort that tells a customer to go into town and purchase there own local beer truly doesn’t understand customer service.

The staff was beyond amazing as usual, the original room that was given to us smelled greatly of mold. We then requested another room, and said room was perfectly fine. The food was very repetitive and cold the whole time at the buffet restaurants however the at La carta restaurants were extremely good.

Some staff was not very friendly. Asked twice for beer to be delivered to room and never got it. Son and daughter got food poisoning asked for extra water never came had to find our own. Food is horrible. Will not be back.
