Park Like Setting

Dominique was a very good host. Gave us lots of information about the unit we were staying in. The property is immaculate as is the landscaping as is the location. Truly a little paradise in the middle of Sarlat. Would definitely stay again. Would definitely recommend to friends.

A peaceful retreat

Parklike setting with gorgeous gardens filled with birdsong lovingly tended to by host Dominique who also lives on the property. The apartment had two spacious bedrooms and full bathroom upstairs and kitchen, dining room and small living room on the main on the main floor with a handy toilet. Great patio for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Wonderful location at the north end of Sarlat, close to the supermarket and roads to Lascaux and Les Eyzies etc. Highly recommended !

A lovely stay

This house is ideally located - only minutes to walk into historic Sarlat, but just outside the touristy area so it feels very peaceful. Dominique was such a lovely, gracious host. He lives next door so he is available if anything goes wrong. He even picked us up and drove us to the train station, and made sure we got on the right train. Our holiday here was perfect.

Great base to visit Sarlat and surrounding towns

Great location only a short walk into town. Good base for travelling wider in the Dordogne. Delightful host. Contactless checkin was very easy. Clean, comfortable accommodation for two couples travelling together.

The property was very private and very well appointed. Everything worked well and the home was well equipped. It's not very fancy but it's quite comfortable. It's a little bit hard to find the first time, especially at night, but that resolves quickly. Dominique, the owner, clearly works hard to maintain his premises. He lives next door and owns several other properties on the site. He's willing to be quite helpful but is also not at all intrusive. We appreciated that. The property is located well for travel to castles and caves, while still being well sited for a walk into the heart of Sarlat. We;d return!

Great location

My sister and I recently used this apartment as our home base while we spent a week exploring the villages near Sarlat. The apartment is within walking distance to the historic center of the village of Sarlat. We walked to the nearby boulangerie for fresh croissants each morning, and there is a large grocery store a few blocks north. The apartment was a pleasant place to return to each afternoon, and we enjoyed sitting on the large front porch. Some toiletries had been left behind by previous visitors, but we had to buy some soap, shampoo, and tissues. Otherwise, the apartment is well equipped. It was very clean. Dominique lives on the property, so he was always available to answer questions about the area and to explain how to operate some of the apartment's features. There are also three studio apartments on the property, so this would be a great location for a large group of family and friends.

This is a great place to stay if you want to explore the Dordogne region. Sarlat is an easy walk and a grocery store is also nearby. The accommodation has everything you need and our stay was comfortable. I would be happy to stay here again.

Wonderful Place in Sarlat

The host Dominique is very welcoming and helpful. The accommodation (we actually had a 2 BR apartment) is very spacious and excellently equipped and there is roomy terrace overlooking a large and well kept garden. Access is easy and there is ample car parking. Location is at the edge of old town Sarlat, very close to a Carrefour Supermarket and easy access to main roads to all the places you may want to visit. A wonderful stay.

As good as it gets

The apartment is well equipped and clean. The photos on the internet that we made much of the flat look dark, but the reality was fine. Dominic is the best of hosts: unobtrusive, but always there for advice, help and good conversation in French and English. The garden outside is well maintained and spacious. The apartment is within walking distance of Sarlat centre, but is also accessible to the ring-road around the town. A great place to stay.

Beautiful, spacious home near town center!

We recently stayed four nights in this beautiful, two-story guest house within walking distance of Sarlat's famous Saturday market. Initially I thought there was a mistake -- that we must have signed up for a home-share and would have roommates -- because the house was so much larger than I had expected. What a happy surprise that it was all ours! Downstairs is a modern, well-equipped kitchen with a spacious adjoining dining area and living room/seating area. Upstairs are two large bedrooms with comfortable beds and plenty of closet space, as well as a nice, large bathroom. It has a bathtub with a removable, hand-held shower nozzle. (The owner plans to replace the tub soon with a fully enclosed shower, which will be better.) We visited during a cold spell but the whole house was well heated and comfortable, and everything was clean and nice. The best part of the house for us was the incredible front porch, opening onto a beautiful, huge front garden! We sat around the table on the porch with our coffee every morning, and then sat there again in the evening, drinking wine and enjoying appetizers (cheeses, sausages, and foie gras from the Saturday market!) before walking a few blocks to dinner. Birdsong filled the air morning and early evening. It was just lovely. And speaking of lovely, the owner of this property, Dominique, is a wonderful host! A Frenchman who lived in Australia for many years, he speaks great English and was a delight to converse with. He was gracious and helpful, not at all intrusive but absolutely available if you need any information about the town, local sights, French politics and culture, etc. We loved chatting with him in the morning as we headed out for our adventures in the many beautiful towns nearby. We highly recommend staying at this wonderful, conveniently located home. Enjoy!

A Charming Place

This was a charming. aesthetic French home with a beautifully landscaped large yard with flowers and willow tree. The owner speaks perfect English, which eliminated the language barrier for us. It is also located within walking distance to the midieval village district in downtown Surlat. It is also just a short drive to Lascaux and other prehistoric sights, which was our main reason for visiting the area.

The location was perfect with everything close by.

Our stay here was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better host than Dominique! He spoke perfect English and was so helpful in advising us on what to see and do during our stay. The apartment was so comfortable and we loved sitting on the terrace and drinking wine after a busy day of day tripping. Sarlat-la-Canéda is one of the most beautiful places in all of France and we would highly recommend a stray at this apartment.

Great time and memories

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the apartment. We loved sitting out on the patio overlooking the large garden, enjoying food and drink, the sun and stars; couldn't be better, great memories. And the location, just 5 minutes walk from the town, means you can easily pop in and out of town several times a day. OK, the inside is a bit tired and the bathroom shall we say is quite unique, but Dominique, the wonderfully helpful but discrete owner, who lives next door, is planning a refit this winter. No hesitation in recommending this wonderful place for a stay in Sarlat / wider Dordogne.

A great house to stay at with a generous and amiable host.

This house was in a peaceful environment and yet a 10 minute walk took us into the centre of Sarlat with magnificent examples of medeaival buildings around every corner, With so many great places to eat good Perigordian cuisine we still found some very good alternatives to duck or goose ! The 2 bedrooms were good and the studio style living area was spacious and comfortable and opened onto a lovely terrace overlooking a large and attractive garden. Our host Dominique ( who also spoke very good English) could not have been more helpful, always friendly and with time to help with any advice we needed.

Walking distance from old Sarlat

This vacation home is roomy, clean, has a pleasant patio, good parking and has a good location. Dominique is very helpful. My only surprise was the, mostly, very simple interior decoration of this house. E.g little plastic hooks and a painted, thin waterpipe to hang towels on in the bathroom cheapen the appearance. Also the handshower in the jettub complicated taking a shower. Dominique intends to update the kitchen and that is a good idea

Loved staying here! This was a special girl family reunion, and it was perfect for all of us.

Dominique’s rental home is comfortable and clean and spacious and is beautifully arranged for all sorts of guests. The photos do not do it justice. We loved the little outdoor patio where we could have special dinners and just sit with a glass of champagne and enjoy the evening. Dominique is a gracious and accommodating host. The beds are comfy and the little kitchen worked great for our needs. The location is excellent too....very quiet & private, yet just a short walk to the downtown area of Sarlat.

Convenient but needs a bit of up dating

First the positive. The location is great. It is just a short 10 minute walk to the old town of Sarlat and convenient to roads leading to all the attractions of the area. The grounds are lovely and it is wonderful to have off street parking. It was a pleasure to have a glass on wine on the patio at the end of the touring day. Dominique is knowledgeable and speaks better English than my French and is a joy to speak with. The negative has to do with the unit which was a bit damp and cold (Note: it did rain for the two weeks we were there) and needs some updating especially the bath and kitchen. We are certain that Dominique has plans to do so and we would stay here again.

Really nice property and lovely garden area.

Because we traveled to Sarlat by motorcycle it was important that where we stayed was close to the shops and city centre, this property fitted the bill perfectly. Only a 5 minute walk to the supermarket and 10 minutes walk to the centre of Sarlat. Dominique was the perfect host and spoke excellent English. We would return in an instant.

Lovely stay in Sarlat

My husband and I would definitely stay here again were we to come back to the Dordogne. The apartment was spacious, very clean, and lovely. We loved the patio and enjoyed relaxing there with a glass of wine after a day of visiting the many interesting sites in the area. The location was good, a quick ten minute walk to the old town. We went to the market there both on Wednesday and Saturday since it was so easy. Dominique was a very gracious, helpful, and friendly host. We had a great time while we stayed in Sarlat. Thank you, Dominique!

Pleasant stay

Dominique was a wonderful host. The place was clean and had everything we needed. There was a beautiful bowl of fresh fruit for us when we arrived and Dominique made us a salad of fresh homegrown tomatoes with garlic, yum. The town was within walking distance to the town with good restaurants.

Perfect base to explore this amazing region. Five star hospitality.

Dominic our host offered a warm welcome and showed us around this apartment. It's one of three for rent in a private complex. Beautiful gardens and lawn to enjoy from our patio. There are two large bedrooms each with double beds, very comfy and clean. The house has been renovated and has kept some of its old charms while providing a modern feel. We wish we'd stayed longer in Sarlat, 4 nights wasn't enough to explore this amazing region. We were close enough to walk to the old city of Sarlat. Our special thanks to Dominic for his help in arranging a doctors appointment, taking my husband there and offering to interpret if needed. Then Waiting around to bring my husband back home again.
