Location opposite the Abbey was fantastic the pub restaurant was amazing best breakfast we have had anywhere will definitely stay again on our next visit
Second time we have stayed at The Plume travelling to/from Cornwall. It is a lovely, comfortable & homely hotel. However, the absolute bonus is their restaurant, the food (small plates/tapas) is excellent, as are the cocktails and wine list. Itâs a shame it is not near our home as we would be very regular visitors!
Pros - wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows, lovely sheets and soft fluffy towels. A lovely newly refurbished bathroom and lots of lovely hot water and nice toiletries. The food is superb, both dinner and breakfast, with lots of choice and cannot be faulted. Dogs allowed everywhere, which for us is a massive plus with 2 dogs. Opposite the Abbey so in a marvellous position for seeing the area by foot and parking is free as well
Cons - chipped paintwork in room and bathroom, needed a re-paint of walls and the lovely wooden sash windows were dirty with peeling paint and a pane of glass was cracked. The coffee table was chipped and shabby and the general state of cleaning/dusting sadly let the room down
Stayed in the Hayloft which seems to be slightly cheaper than the other rooms, but in hindsight I wished Iâd paid a bit more for a room in the main building. The bathroom is down a flight of stairs and very cold, tiny with rust, mildew and cobwebs. Really needs renovation. Pumps on 2 out of the 3 toiletries didnât work, including the hand soap and theyâre bolted in to the wall (which has taken off half the ceramic tile in the process). The room itself is large but as someone else has commented, the heating is pre-programmed and can only be changed using a PIN number (which isnât shown in the room) so it came on at odd times in the night, then cold again in the morning. Velux window blind above the bed is jammed half open and canât be moved, which isnât great for shutting out the light for a good nights sleep. Basically, didnât sleep well at all. Great breakfast and friendly staff though and the pub itself is nicely done out. Just need to renovate that bathroom and give the room a bit of TLC before Iâd stay again.
I found this hotel very overpriced.
ÂŁ130 for the evening.
The room was cold and unwelcoming, had to call the reception to ask to put the heating on in the room.
The cafetiĂšre had not been cleaned and was had the previous guests coffee still in there I had to wash out before use.
Room was tired and bathroom a little grubby.
Staff were excellent in the pub, but for the price of the room- it was not worth the cost at all.
Disappointing stay and I would not return.
Lovely stay at the Plume of feathers. Lovely quaint loft room overlooking the coutyard. Very friendly, clean and a great breakfast included. Highly recommend.
Dusty to where we had to leave window open all night & sent them a email & still not got back to us plus the breakfast was more like a kids so for the price for 1 night or ÂŁ170 not happy
A perfect place to land after a long journey. Perfect staff, great patio gardens, restful and entertaining all at once. Donât miss Nickâs trivia evenings.
Lovely room, comfortable bed and a nice lounge which was a bonus. Food was amazing as was the service. Only negative was the heating wasnât on for very long
