I stay there for 3 days, birthday weekend. I took the privilege option. The initial room we got the shower was dirty, we had to request a change in room. We got the change but the shower though better than the other room was okay. There was moulding on the shower walk and no blowdryer was provided. The lighting in the room was terrible and the room wasn’t cool, the room temperature was stock at 23 so we couldn’t do anything about temperature. Considering we got the privilege package, the room was small. There was no special treat for birthday, no complimentary card, NOTHING. Nothing special about the room just basic. The TV was not working either. The beach was full of seed weed so that wasn’t much fun. The food was lacklustre, not much flavour. The Italian restaurant was terrible , food was inedible. The specialties restaurants are limited and disappointing. They told us late check out came with the package but when we requested it they told us we can’t get it because the room was already scheduled for next guess. Overall I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Extremely disappointed!!!!!!!

everything nice. staff was more than accommodating and always smiling. check in was easy especially if you check-in online. Buffet was ok but the restaurants were very good. only downside is the pool. The pool although good size is not big enough to accommodate the 700 rooms. Unless you arrive at pool by 8:00am,its pretty impossible to get a lounge chair. I would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Catalonia Bavaro Resort and had an amazing experience as a family. The resort grounds are absolutely stunning—lush, tropical, and incredibly well maintained. The beach is truly breathtaking, with powdery white sand and clear, turquoise water. It felt like paradise. We brought our 6-year-old twins with us, and they told us multiple times that this was the best and most beautiful place they’ve ever seen. Seeing the wonder in their eyes and how much they enjoyed every moment made this trip unforgettable. One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible hospitality from Nieves, the food and beverage manager. She was extremely helpful, kind, and welcoming. She came out to chat with us on two separate occasions just to make sure everything was going well and to see how we were enjoying our stay. That level of attention really made us feel valued and cared for. I’ve read reviews where people complain about minor details, but let’s be honest—if you’re expecting a 5-diamond experience, then you should book a 5-diamond resort. Catalonia Bavaro offers great value, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. If I had to mention anything, it would be that some of the staff could smile a little more—but that’s a minor thing, and no one was ever rude to us. Everyone was respectful and professional. We will definitely be returning to Catalonia Bavaro. It was the perfect mix of beauty, comfort, and warmth—and a memorable vacation.

Great resort, amazing property grounds, with wonderful and very friendly staff, the rooms are great and spacious with updated bathrooms. Very clean only remark about the rooms is the very loud air conditioning that blows all the time regardless of the thermostat being there, and the fridge doesn’t cool at all for some reason. Cons: The property management should do something about the aggressive local shop stands and the people on the beach trying to sell you packages. They are in your face all the time and it’s discouraging to look to see what they offer or sell because of the expectation to buy something if they stop to show you they product or if you want to see the knick knacks they sell.

The room even with the upgrade to privilege had a sewer odour which was awful at times. Air conditioning would not go lower than 23 degrees. No drink service around the pool either. For these reasons, I will not return.

The stay was okay, The food was mediocre. I waited 2 hours to get my room granted they did give me late checkout . When i got in my room the toilet didn’t work, and was a bit dirty . The staff were nice thought and tried they’re best to accommodate. I think i would probably stay somewhere else when visiting punta cana .

This place was fantastic. I don’t care what those other lame reviews are saying. The staff at the resort were incredibly kind and accommodating, especially for non-spanish speakers. The facilities were great- pool and beach options were well-maintained and clean at all times. If you are a college student looking for a relaxing trip, this is the resort to attend.
