This is our third stay at Grant Plaza in the same room each time. It's a convenient budget hotel just inside Chinatown, and we stayed because it's an easy walk to the Masonic for concerts. The desk staff are always friendly and polite. However, it's an older building with little sound-proofing from street noises, and both Friday night and Saturday night during our stay, it sounded like there were drag races right beneath our (closed) windows, and we were on the sixth floor. Also, the beds in our room were beyond firm. Perhaps some rooms have more comfortable beds. We may look at other options next time.

The beds are very hard and small. The bathroom could have used more cleaning but looks newly remodeled.. maybe. The front desk service was very friendly and got us what we needed for the stay. We didn't have a view and the window didn't close tight so the road noise was a lot.

Great location downtown convenient to financial district, Embarcadero, Chinatown, and Union Square. Room was clean, tiny, & pretty basic. Front desk staff were wonderful. Good value. I would stay again.

The rooms are very old and small, and do not match the photos on the website, uncomfortable beds. The view from the window is unpleasant, the windows are dirty, the furniture is old, with rust and dirt in some places. There was a terrible smell in the room. The coffee was instant, served in a thermos only in the morning. Parking is difficult and inconvenient. The only good thing was the polite front desk staff. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

Excellent Value in Chinatown

I had a cozy but comfortable room for three nights in early October 2025. Check in was a breeze. Nice, updated bathroom with great shower, super comfy bed, and steady WiFi. Quiet at night, despite the downtown location. Super close to Chinatown and heaps of public transportation options. Including only one block from the California cable car line. I doubt I could find better value for money in that location. Professional, efficient front desk staff and friendly housekeeping. I would gladly stay again.

San Francisco experience

Pictures of rooms available on hotels.com do not reflect what you get. They have pictures of superior double rooms on the standard double. This is confusing and hotels.com should check the property is listing the correct pictures. Hotel is conveniently located in the financial district, busy road (noisy) but with ease of access to cable cars, transport and much more.
