If you are on a budget and want the most convenient location to Ni-chome in Shinjuku. And you also don’t mind sacrificing the size of a hotel room, but yet won’t mind booking an extra hotel room for the sake of sharing bathroom space or just having extra space for your belongings. This is a great hotel with an Onsen that is complimentary for hotel guests. There is a good breakfast buffet option which I booked, worth it to start of your day. There is also a coin operated washer/dryer that you can use. It was always available whenever me or my husband needed to wash clothes. WiFi is complimentary, fast and free. You will always get replacement towels, Yukata and coffee for your room. There is a small refrigerator on your hotel room and a communal microwave on the same floor as the onsen and laundry room.

I have been looking forward to staying at this property for some time. I missed an opportunity earlier in the year and I was not disappointed. I am a frequent patron of the hotel chain so the rooms were as expected. I did enjoy the onsen which is large and was mostly empty while I was there. I also appreciated it's proximity to Shinjuku Gyoen, it's surprisingly short walking distance to Meiji Jingu and the diverse area restaurants.

Check in staff were incompetent. Foyer very small to check in. could be chaotic. Breakfast room not very clean. Limited menu for West. Air con. Ok. but very small room so stuffy. no evening meals. not much room for your belongings. No rails for towels.

Onsen was clean and maintained well. No gym. Laundry takes time to dry (took us more than 1 hour with separated clothes) and many lints attach to clothes. Washers are detergent-free I believe using alkaline water, which I can attest works! Odor and grime gone. Rooms were sufficient but tight. Service and cleanliness were excellent! Checking in and out is a breeze. Also, on your check-out day, you can still leave your luggage in the hotel the whole day if you plan to travel around more. No wonder many recommend Apa for first time visitors.

The indoor public bath was a perk, since the September weather in Tokyo was very rainy. The hotel rooms are pretty small (expected), but there was still a fully functional shower/tub, mini fridge and tv, in addition to our two twin beds. The elevator had a fair bit of congestion, but not much could be done about it (there were three). Less than a 10 minute walk to Shinjuku station made this a winner. There is a lovely park around the corner, plenty of convenience stores and small spots to grab a bite.
