Everything about this hotel is wonderful. The staff is so helpful and friendly. Amenities are above and beyond many hotels that I have used. The room, spacious and clean and the breakfast lounge the same. The location of this hotel is perfect for catching trains, busses and trams to all points of interest.

Great hotel. Very close to the train station and trams, which is great if you are arriving or departing by train. With the Basel card they give you? You get free public transportation on the trams, which makes it easy to get anywhere you want to go. The breakfast was great with lots of variety. We were travelling with our infant and they were able to provide a travel crib free of charge. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The room was large and clean. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The best part, however, was the hotel’s location right across from the train station. We totally enjoyed our stay.

Staff members Yves, Ciro and Karen at the front desk were friendly, efficient and helpful, especially with making our Spa reservations. The young woman in breakfast was also very friendly and attentive and makes a lovely cappuccino! Room 353 was spacious and quiet. Very nice bathroom and lovely towel heater. There was an unpleasant smell in the room when we first entered but it dissipated after we opened the windows for a few hours and didn’t return during the remainder of our visit. Bed was very comfortable, quality linens, nice amenities. Items in minibar are complimentary. Breakfast was delicious! Fresh-squeezed orange juice, tasty pastries and breads, Bircher muesli was very good. Room is gorgeous! Location near the train station was very convenient! Very quiet and a great place to base yourself at for exploring Basel by tram with the free Basel transport ticket provided by the hotel. Sauna and kniepp pool in the spa were a welcome treat each night after our long days of exploring Basel’s museums. Very clean. Massages also available but we didn’t use that service. If you’re looking for a wonderful family-owned hotel in a great location and comfortable rooms with delicious breakfast, look no farther than the Gaia. Will stay here again when we return to Basel!

Lovely room. Only issue was husband hitting head on angles as we were on top floor. Breakfast was awesome. Staff incredibly helpful. In room fridge nice for water, tea, beer and wine that was included with room. Great location near train station, easy to catch buses, trams and trains. Added bonus was coop store next door

Pleasant staff, clean room with good facilities including bath robes, slippers, nice shower and bath amenities. Free mini bar was appreciated. Comfortable pillows and bed linen. Great location near the main railway station and tram stop. Lovely breakfast area and selection of food. All in all an excellent stay and would definitely return. And free water and snack on checking out was a nice touch. Free travel card which also could be used on bus to the airport. Fantastic service.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gaia Hotel. It was just steps away from the train station which made it so easy after a long overnight journey from the US. Our room was ready ahead of time and everyone we met that worked for the hotel was nice and extremely helpful. The breakfast was outstanding and was great even for us as vegans. I’d definitely stay here again

The location was perfect for logistics of 1 night stay. It’s across the street from the train station and next to a major tram stop. Patrick at the front desk was incredibly helpful in guiding is to several places we needed to go and the included breakfast was delicious. The room was clean and comfortable.
