We have stayed at the Mayfair for probably 10 years on the trot. We love it for the location and the easy and conveniences the location brings. There is even a Sainsburys right opposite. The staff are very courteous and helpful in the lobby. Unfortunately, I have to say our stay this time was not as comfortable as the previous visits. 1. There is construction going on and we were given a room bang in front of it so we were woken up at the crack of dawn with construction noise. 2 We had to keep requesting for cups and spoons to make tea in the room as house keeping didn’t remember to put them in the room after cleaning 3 waiting time for any service , whether it was laundry pick up or any service in the room took several calls to guest service before the task was completed. 4. The bathrooms didn’t have any hooks for hanging clothes or towels. Yes there is a heating rack but it’s high up and inconvenient. Also no place to put our own toiletries in the shower area. We stayed on the 5th floor.

Amazing place to stay,we stayed for our wedding anniversary,the reception team was amazing they gave us a upgrade left champagne in our room with a lovely card,the room was amazing everyone was so kind,I would definitely recommend this hotel,we booked a spa treatment that was fabulous everyone was so kind! I’d definitely stay again. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for looking after us x

The air conditioning in the room didn’t work, no ventilation in the room and the TV didn’t work either. A complaint to the front desk resulted in being off a space heater which didn’t fix the issue of ventilation and maintenance staff was not on property so TV issue was not resolved.

Yes, staff at check-in were excellent. Room was ready. Spacious and huge bathroom. Carpet needs a deep clean and refurb work going on to rooms around, which we were not told. It was Christmas and no Christmas tree in lobby, which was disappointing

Breakfast wise - there wasn’t enough food choice. Hotel guests had to stand in a queue to get a table (Saturday). Poor service (15 mms to get a cup of coffee). Ps. There was no bread left at some point and nobody bothered to top up the missing items. Noise - extremely noisy, you can hear everything happening in the corridors. Facing the inner yard - the ventilation system kept on buzzing day and night making it impossible to sleep. Closed windows did not help. Room - rather small for a deluxe, dirty and old. Creased bed linen, dust everywhere, empty mini bar, no drinking water, soft materace. Overall, highly disappointing for a five star. Certainly not worth the money spent. :-(
