An old, noisy hotel in a good location

Lovely reception area, but very dated rooms. No view as the windows are too high. The hotel was very loud. All night long. I’m a deep sleeper and the bangs even roused me awake. A nice lively bar attached to the hotel which offered good entertainment. Great central location in Manchester.

Positives - hotel is extremely convenient for the city centre as it is right opposite Piccadilly Gardens. Negatives - not enough staff, had to wait for ages to store and collect luggage, along with 6 other people. Room extremely hot, with no air con or fan. Hotel was grand back in the day, but in need of some updating.

Ok. Nothing more, nothing less

Not terrible but not great. Some of the hotels rooms have been created out of open spaces and as such the walls are quite thin and not soundproofed particularly well. The shower was something of a dichotomy - the heat and pressure were fabulous, but some buffoon fitted the shower curtain halfway into the bath - so every shower I was also wrestling with the shower curtain. The room itself was sufficient for a no frills stay, beds were reasonably comfortable and clean bedding. The floor however make a lot of noise in some areas so probably not good for whoever was in the room below. I paid over the odds because all hotels priced up for the Bruce Springsteen concert. Not worth what I paid (£125 per night) but for the normal rate (around £50-60) its fair value.

I booked a basic room and I knew there were no windows. But this takes basic to a new level. No air con, a hot stuffy room with a desk fan provided, which made no impact as there was no cool air to circulate. You have to pay for in room wifi! Really what hotel does that now in the UK. Staff were friendly enough, but no ID and no chip and pin and you can’t stay seems a strange rule for a central city hotel, and the security on the door in the evening made me feel that that on the whole the area and the hotel must not be that safe.

City centre hotel very close to Piccadilly Station

Choose this hotel due to its location as I was arriving by train from the airport. Check in was good and i was pleased that is been aloxated a ground floor room as i had several bags. The bedroom was clean and tidy but showing signs of needing some redecoration in some areas. The shower was hsrd to rurn on sndoff but once working was very good. The only lights in the bedroom were 3 table lamps and i felt rh room would have benefitted from a msin central ceiling light The bed was very comfy. Thd room was very warm being a room without eindows but there was an electric fan in the wardrobe. Overall for a one night stay, it was good and i would stay again.

Central location

Hotel is central which is great. There was a football match and the walls seem quite thin. So was woken up during the night with football fans making a lot of noise.

Stayed in this hotel a good few times over the years and nothing has changed. Even though its in an ideal location it badly needs a re-vamp of the rooms, very outdated, WiFi not the best, tvs very poor quality and channel choices are very limited.
