Shame about the breakfast - confirmed I had a dog and restaurant confirmed I could eat there with the dog for breakfast. So I paid and they then tried to turn me away - after I’d just paid for 3 people! Otherwise, if you don’t have a dog, great place.

This is a lovely hotel, very well appointed with generally very helpful staff and lovely rooms and a magnificent building. The only issue we had was with the service at breakfast (no problems with service at dinner at all). We were left standing waiting to be seated for some time as the queue was not really visible to the main dining area and no-one was seemingly assigned to the desk. In addition the tea and coffee orders were very slow to come (this on more than one occasion) so much so we had virtually finished eating before they arrived. The food was very good. We would have rather had to serve ourselves tea and coffee than wait so long for the service. However, this was a minor point to us in our stay overall which we really enjoyed.

The hotel is beautiful and our Junior Suite was amazing. The only negative were the two functions on at the hotel that went on into the small hours. Really noisy, lots of banging, shouting, screaming and general revelry. Impossible to sleep. A cut off of 12pm is normal in our country giving consideration to other paying guests.

The room on the 4th floor (1463) could hardly be called De Luxe. The Window was very small and there was no view other than another wall. The room was, however, quite well appointed and clean.

Spacious rooms but noisy neighbours

Nice spacious room but rubbish sound proofing so neighbouring rooms snoring occupant was very loud! Breakfast is in the miller & carter restaurant, nice selection of buffet but everything ran out at various points on a busy Sunday morning and staff weren't monitoring food levels. Great location for a short walk to the event we had at the Hippodrome

Went for a one night trip to Bristol to see Greg Davies perform. We were given the opportunity to select a room from a few and got given one with a bath and slightly more space (but this was due to it being a disabled room mind, not that it was necessarily an issue). The room was in great condition but felt a little dated, but understand it may not have been possible to modernise it too much given the building. Bathroom floor was freezing during the night though! No bad experiences with the staff at all. We didn't really have any need to speak to them much but when we did they were helpful.

Poor experience for over £230, room in the basement with noisy generator. At 2.30am got dressed and kindly asked if there were any quieter spaces. Assisted by a kind member of staff, changed rooms. Would not recommend staying in the basement. Will look for any other hotel option next time. Disappointing.

Wonderful stay

From the moment we arrived everything was fantastic. Onsite parking great, walked straight into hotel reception, spotlessly clean, friendly staff, check in quick and easy, room very comfortable. Had the added bonus of Miller and Carter Restaurant within the hotel just off reception
