The hotel was okay. We weren’t fussed about the rooms being outdated. We actually kinda liked it. We waited to check in even though we did the online check in prior and then the hot water wasn’t working in our room. We were given a different room which was fine. Our key didn’t work the following day though so we had to go back downstairs and have it fixed. As the rooms aren’t exactly the easiest to get to due to the extensively long hallways it was a bit annoying. It wasn’t unpleasant, just inconvenient. The staff were lovely and helpful though and the location fantastic. The listing does say it has laundry facilities and they actually no longer do so please don’t plan to do your laundry here.

Good central location in iconic building. Staff levels appear low leading to slow check-in and queues. Decoration tired in places but our room was sizeable and comfortable although no mirror in bathroom.

Inside the building is still impressive. You need to be forgiving when staying in and old building. It will obviously be tired in places, and the upkeep will always be ongoing. Our basic room provided everything needed and was tidy, however was in need of attention. The staff very smart and helpful. As on holiday abroad this hotel also has coach/train parties arriving in mass that will cause queues... again this is something to be expected. Considering the extreme noise level around the premises the room had very good windows to provide sound proofing. We slept well. With time, attention and money spent this could be a real gem to be proud of in Liverpool.

Staff do their best but the rooms especially need a massive investment. Old dining room etc downstairs is beautiful. Plumbing noisy, rooms are very small. No room safe. Bed seems like old uncomfortable mattress. Massive queue to book in despite having checked in online.

DO NOT STAY! June 2025

If I could give minus points I would, I’ve never stayed anywhere so bad.upon entering I was initially impressed,it reminded me of the foyer in the titanic movie. Going up stairs I noticed the staircase wasn’t dusted or hoovered and the mirrors were uncleaned. The room door was grubby and made me not even want to enter-I should have turned around, the paint was chipped and the door appeared to have been reinforced by plywood which again was worn and grubby. Opening the door I nearly got sick with the smell of old and damp. The door and handles had baldy painted chipped and sticky. The room was a good size. The beds were awful, you could feel the exact shape of every spring, which popped into your back as you turned. The leg on our bed was strained inward and I was afraid it would snap.Inside the room the paint was chipped on all walls,a layer of dust outlined the perimeter of the carpet and a piece of paper was sticking out from under the bed, there was a hole in the centre of the radiator. The room was hot went to open the window for air and as I moved the curtain 3 dead flies fell from them. The bathroom door had no lock and kept opening, the bathroom had been renovated so didn’t feel as gross as the rest of the room-until I sat on the loo and a drop of brown water from the spot light over my head fell on my white shirt, this continued to drip constantly so we had to put a towel down on the floor in case my elderly mother fell. Just to point out,im not usually one to pick faults
Forgot to mention the clogged sink.

The hotel is clearly tired and in need of some real investment. The building looks grand, but as a hotel it doesn't stand up to the mildest scrutiny. It's clean enough but a strange smell in the room; check-in process and computer systems in need of an upgrade as quite slow. Location was very good for proximity to Lime Street station. It could be grand again.

We queued for over an hour to check in. I went to the normal checking as the gas track one was so slow! We were out in a tiny room that looked like a cell , no view just a concrete wall. Bed was small and uncomfortable pillows like bricks. Everything had been painted over a dozen times. Bathroom walls had been clad with plastic that moved. We complained but the hotel was full so we had to wait until the next day. Eventually the put us in a ‘ better’ room. It was better , better shower just a terrible experience especially as it was a suprise birthday treat for a family member.

Very central and close to Lime Street station. Room was very dated and in need of a paint. Found the room very cold and had no heater. Very expensive and much more expensive than normal due to the Bruce Springsteen concert that night. Not good value for money as over £210 for one night.
