Excellent location and good breakfast, Restaurant menu is typical pub food - bit boring but well prepared and served. Beware the Greene King app! A good idea but staff who were supposed to be seating you at a table or taking orders were all too often engaged in helping customers download the app. Other members of staff not so engaged offered no explanation or reassurance that we would be attended to as soon as possible. Basically we were ignored. In the end we went next door to the Kings Head. Covid is a problem but simple acknowledgement of presence would have been nice. Room was spacious but little clothes storage. Bathroom is 'tired'. Room failed on basic cleanliness and comfort. Our room (5) was over a passage way leading from the street to the rear garden. First day OK but the temperature was around 21 degrees. Weather changed and temperature dropped leaving us in a freezing cold room with no working central heating. Beds were made but the bedclothes and the bathroom towels felt damp, possibly because of the cold but our wet towels may not have been changed. We had to ask for a new toilet roll and on the last day, we found that the tea making supplies had not been replenished and our dirty tea cups from the previous day had not been replaced or even rinsed, We left the hotel on Sunday 27th although we had originally booked until Monday 28th. Avoid room 5 at all costs.

Apart from a very squeaky bed and a very hot room, (A fan was included in the room), i really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast area was really nice and the good really tasty. Great location. The pub was closed by 11pm, very quiet.
