If you are looking for a modern hotel, this isn’t it. BUT if you want a quaint, English hotel, then come here. The food was good although the rooms looked worn. Lastly, there is no elevator. For all of us who who were staying at the hotel for its convenient location to the cruise terminal, we had to carry multiple luggage up and then down very slim stairs.

Really friendly, professional staff who were courteous. We received a warm welcome when we arrived from the lady on reception. She was also our server at breakfast and was excellent. Really lovely cooked breakfast and a good selection of other breakfast options to choose from. Would recommend.

Very nice place. Only stayed one night prior to a cruise but the room was extremely comfortable and spacious. I loved the room. Big windows that open and chairs to sit at the window. Bathroom was huge. The staff were amazing. Thus includes the young lads working the breakfast room. I would recommend and I would stay here again. Quick taxi ride to the port

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean large room with big bay window. A room fan was supplied which was a necessity as the weather was very warm when we stayed and the room was very hot. There was no room service durung our three night stay but this didn’t bother us particularly. There was not enough tea coffee and milk etc in our room but reception staff wers always on hand to provide some. Breakfast was a typical full English and this was adapted to meet my gluten free diet as I am Coeliac. A 'continental breakfast' was also available which consisted of pastries fruit and yogurt. Room had a shower over the bath but we personally would have preferred a stand alone shower cubicle. Parking was easily facilitated and the basement bar and garden were great but please note not open Sundays.

On arrival we received assistance from the receptionist with regard to parking our car. Checking in, we were given room 24 immediately next door to the reception desk in the main entrance area. On opening the door to the room, we had to negotiate three steps to get into the room, which was challenging with lifting 4 heavy suitcases from the doorway before we could enter the room properly. The room itself was a good size, and clean, however, the room decoration was dark and depressing no bright colours as shown in the hotel online marketing. It was a warm humid evening when we arrived, as there was no air conditioning we had no other option than to open the window to freshen up the room. Not only did cool air enter the room but so did the smell of chip fat oil from the kitchen below. We could hear staff conversations and constant kitchen noise which did not allow for an immediate restful time after a 3.5 hours journey to Southampton. In addition we could clearly hear other guest conversations in the reception area and the other side of the bedroom door. When we checked-out the following morning, we did mention the above issues to the receptionist when she asked if we had enjoyed our stay and we received a “sorry about that” and from another member of staff “that the kitchen closed at 10.00 pm!” as though the noise and smell should have been acceptable to us up until 10.00 pm. Very poor quality stay at this hotel and definitely the worse one we've had.

We were looking forward to staying in this hotel and booked a Superior room as we saw the pictures and looked lovely. Unfortunately upon our arrival, we were given a room that was not a superior. Bed was double, not king. Bathroom only had a bath not shower. Mattress was old and super firm, you could feel the slings and metal on the bottom. Overall was very dissapointed we were not given what we paid for. I called reception and they said that it was a Superior room and a king size. My husband and I are on the bigger side, we know what a king size bed is. Will not come back and pictures are misleading and they did not.compensate at all.

Staff were lovely. Property could do with a makeover, dated and lack of finishing touches. Inside of chest of drawers had broken plywood placed inside, bit weird. Could provide water in room, some cushions and throws as seen in pictures on website, as bit sparse and basic. Bar area downstairs was tiny and was closed on our second night. Reception said only open if lots of cruise customer's in !! So not accommodating all customers which was bizarre. However, that said it was clean and did us fine for 2 nights.

From the moment I arrived, Ashley made me feel so welcome. She was cheerful and accommodating and made me laugh. My room was comfortable and quaint and on the 2nd floor (note: book a main level room if you have large luggage as there is no elevator/lift). The breakfast was great, with options for a continental breakfast or full breakfast. I took an uber so I didn’t have to park but I understand there is parking for guests and those embarking on a cruise. I recommend calling and asking first if you need parking. Staying at the Elizabeth House was a great introduction to England. I couldn’t have asked for better weather.
